Baruch Win Streak at Six, Bearcats Defeat CSI in CUNYAC Thriller (4-3)

The Baruch College Bearcats held off the College of Staten Island, 4-3, in an exciting CUNYAC battle on Wednesday night at Randall's Island.

With the result, the Bearcats take over sole possession of first place in the CUNYAC standings with a 4-0 record, while the visiting Dolphins suffer their first loss to drop to 3-1.

The Bearcats will continue their arduous conference schedule on Saturday morning at 10:00 am (Randall's Island Field #70) against current 3-0 and defending CUNYAC Champion Lehman College.

Jacob Gorodetsky started the high-scoring affair early with a penalty kick goal in the fourth minute.The Bearcats struck again in the 22nd minute on a goal by John Favara and added their third a few minutes before the halftime whistle on a goal by Dortion Alipaj for the dramatic 3-0 halftime lead.

The visiting Dolphins, who entered the match with an 8-2 overall record, did not go quietly scoring twice in a five minute span of the second half to get as close as 3-2 in the 55th minute.

The two teams battled and the Bearcats were finally able to score their game-busting fourth goal in the 83rd minute as Jaime Zurro beat a defender to poke in the goal for the 4-2 score.

The Dolphins quickly scored two minutes later to get as close as one goal again, but the Bearcats shut down any more last minute attempts to clinch the vital 4-3 home win.
