Tounkara’s 2OT Goal Lifts Keystone Past E-Town in Season Opener

LANCASTER, Pa. - August 31, 2018 - Junior Ibrahim Tounkara (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth Area)netted the game-winning goal in the 109th minute of play in double overtime on Friday, lifting the Keystone men's soccer team past host Elizabethtown 4-3 in the 2018 season opener.
Tounkara received a cross down the middle of the box from senior Kouassi Kouadio (Mount Pocono, Pa./Pocono Mountain East) late in the second overtime session.
The Giants netted two first-half goals, thanks to freshman Harrinson Cordoba (Miami, Fla./Barbara Goleman) (30') - assisted by freshman Sebastian Bonilla (Clermont, Fla./East Ridge) - and junior Daniel Zuniga (Lakeland, Fla./McKeel Academy) (40') - off another feed from S. Bonilla.
Following a Blue Jay goal in the second half, senior Jordan Vance (Manalapan, N.J./Manalapan) answered with the equalizer in the 58th minute, again assisted by S. Bonilla, his third helper of the match and tied for the third-most assists in single-game program history.
The Giants outshot Elizabethtown 21-16 as Zuniga led the way with four shots.
Freshman keeper Erick Gomez (Marrero, La./John Ehret) played all 108:03 and recorded three stops.
The Giants will head to Dickinson tomorrow at 5 pm. The Red Devils battled Babson to a 1-1 2OT draw last night.
