Brown, Quintana Lead Hopkins to 4-1 win over Dickinson

• The Short Story: The third-ranked Johns Hopkins men's soccer team rallied from an early one-goal deficit to beat visiting Dickinson, 4-1, in both teams' regular season finale Saturday night.
How it Happened
• The Red Devils scored just 2:09 into the game when Tim O'Hare played a thru ball to Kevin Gilbert. He ran onto the ball, and slotted it under a diving Xander LeFevre towards the left post. Mohamed Kourouma slid in and toed the ball into the net.
• The Blue Jays drew level in the 12th minute on junior Jonathon Brown's goal. Freshman Axel Whamond took a shot from the left side of the box that was stopped by Frederick Meagher. The ball rebounded out to Brown, who scored from in tight.
• Junior RJ Moore put Hopkins on top in the 50th minute, igniting a spurt of three goals in less than 10 minutes. Junior Julito Quintana played a long ball over the defense to Brown, who crossed it into the box. Moore crashed the net and poked home the go-ahead goal with his left foot.
• Just over four minutes later, Quintana centered the ball to junior Alejandro Maclean, who turned and ripped a shot inside the left post from 28 yards out. Hopkins capped the scoring blitz in the 60th minute to go up 4-1. Once again, Quintana sent a long ball 45 yards over the defense to Brown, who took one touch and slotted the ball between the right post and Meagher.
What it Means
• Hopkins improves to 36-17-5 all-time against Dickinson and is now unbeaten in the last six meetings (4-0-2) with the Red Devils. The teams will meet again in next week's Centennial Conference semifinals. Hopkins earned the number two seed with the win.
Inside the Box Score
• Quintana's three assists are a career-high and are one shy of the school record. He now leads the team with five assists on the season.
• Brown finished with a career-best five points (2g, 1a) and two goals. He leads the team with five goals and is tied for the team-lead with 11 points (Whamond).
• Hopkins outshot Dickinson, 18-6, and had a 3-1 advantage in corners.
Up Next
• Hopkins will travel to top-seeded Franklin & Marshall for the 2019 Centennial Conference Tournament on Saturday, November 9. JHU will face Dickinson at a time to be determined.
