Lady Lions Defeat Penn State Behrend to Claim AMCC Title

ALTOONA, Pa. - The #1 seed Penn State Altoona women's soccer team defeated #2 Penn State Behrend 3-0 on Saturday afternoon at Spring Run Stadium in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Championship, earning their second-ever AMCC title.

The Lady Lions stole the momentum early, when Alyssa Robinson (Clifton, NJ/Clifton) put Penn State Altoona on the board just 1:04 into the game, scoring on a header off of Meredith Barcia's (New Canaan, CT/New Canaan) corner kick.

Marlee Hibbs (Williamsport, PA/Loyalsock Township) made it 2-0 when she took a Nikki Supsic (Northumberland, PA/Shikellamy) pass on the left edge of the box and fired it into the right side of the net.

Meredith Waters (Williamsport, PA/Loyalsock Township) added an insurance goal for Penn State Altoona, taking a centering pass from Erin Chafardon (McConnellsburg, PA/McConnellsburg) and scoring to make it 3-0.

Lindsay Raspanti (Fairless Hills, PA/Pennsbury) had a pair of saves in the win, earning her conference-best and school-record 13th shutout of the season.

With the win, Penn State Altoona earns an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III women's soccer tournament. The tournament matchups will be determined after this weekend's games and announced early next week.
