Seniors Shine on Senior Day as Blazer Women Blank Chargers, 3-0
FREDERICK, Md.--Senior Rachelle Buhrman registered the 28th shutout of her career and classmate Cara Jordan had a hand in all three goals as the Hood College women's soccer team (5-12) put the skids on a six-game slide with a 3-0 nonconference win over Lancaster Bible College (12-6) on Senior Day at Thomas Athletic Field.
After a scoreless first half, Jordan and sophomore Stevey Markovich hooked up for the Blazers' first score in the 55th minute. Jordan and Markovich teamed up again five minutes later when Markovich notched her third tally of the fall. Jordan recorded her 11th multi-goal performance in the blue and grey with her 40th career score in the 73rd minute for the final margin.
Buhrman played the first 68 minutes in the net and made a diving save on Ally Brown's attempt in the 28th minute. Junior Kirsten Cacciola patrolled the net for the final 22 minutes to earn credit for the combined shutout.
The Blazers kept the ball in their half of the pitch for the majority of the contest, outshooting the Chargers 23-4.
Hood's final contest of the 2010 campaign is slated for Tuesday against the University of Mary Washington Eagles at 3:30 p.m. at Thomas Athletic Field. The Eagles are currently in sixth place in the CAC.
