Cardinals Nip Blazer Women, 1-0
FREDERICK, Md.--The Hood College women's soccer team (4-9) dropped a narrow 1-0 nonconference decision to the visiting Catholic University Cardinals (5-4) Wednesday afternoon at Thomas Athletic Field.
Midfielder Chiara Comolli notched her first goal of the season in the 21st minute off a corner kick by teammate Maggie McCarthy. That goal would stand as the game-winner as Hood managed just two shots on target, one apiece by senior Cara Jordan and sophomore Stevey Markovich.
Senior keeper Rachelle Buhrman corralled five saves for the Blazers while Cardinal netminder Christina Cassidy recorded the shutout, her second solo blanking of the season, by making a pair of stops.
Hood will be idle for the next 10 days before entertaining Capital Athletic Conference nemesis Salisbury University, the No. 2 team in the CAC, Oct. 16 at 1 p.m.
