Women's Soccer Drops 4-0 Decision at York (Pa.)
YORK, Pa.--The Hood College women's soccer team (3-6, 0-3 CAC) lost to the York College (Pa.) Spartans (2-5-1, 2-1 CAC) by a count of 4-0 Thursday afternoon in a Capital Athletic Conference matchup.
Four different Spartans netted goals as YCP posted one goal in the first half and three in the second. Steph Mergler converted a penalty kick in the 15th minute while Jackie Gibat, Ali Jones and Alex Kauffman all pocketed second-half scores.
Junior Aimee Smith fired Hood's only shot on target on the afternoon but it was corraled by backup keeper Desiree Halaka. Hood had a goal retracted in the first half due to an offsides call.
Blazer keepers Rachelle Buhrman and Kirsten Cacciola combined for five saves in defeat.
Hood wraps up its six-game roadtrip Saturday at nonconference rival Chatham University at 1 p.m.
