Three Western New England College players make NSCAA Division III All-New England Team
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Three Western New England College seniors have been selected to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/Performance Subaru All-New England Team.
Forward Heather Mortell (Webster, MA) and midfielder Shannon Pescatello (Wethersfield, CT) made the Second Team while defender Nicole Poli (Medfield, MA) was a Third-Team pick.
Pescatello led WNEC in scoring with 24 points (11 goals, 2 assists) with five game-winning shots while Mortell compiled 13 points (6 goals, 1 assist) that included three game winners. Poli anchored the Golden Bears' defense that allowed only 31 goals in 22 matches (1.4 avg).
Western New England College posted a 13-9 record this season and placed third in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) with a 10-3 mark.
Coach Ron Dias' squad also advanced to the semifinals of the conference championship and participated in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Championship.
