Devils Set School Records in 2- 0 Win at F&M
(Lancaster, Pa.) – The Dickinson College women's soccer team scored a pair of second-half goals in a span just under five minutes for a 2-0 win at Franklin & Marshall on Wednesday night. The Red Devils, ranked 17th in this week's NSCAA National Poll, tied the school record with their eighth consecutive win.
The Red Devils posted their 11th shutout of the season, improving to 11-2-1 overall. They broke the school record with their seventh consecutive shutout, bettering the streaks of six straight, set in 2005 and last fall.
Annie Weichert (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) made two saves, earning her seventh solo shutout of the season. Hannah Barry made three saves in goal for the Diplomats.
Hannah Richardson (Chevy Chase, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase) finished a beautiful cross to the back post from first-year Samantha Friday (Southborough, Mass./Algonquin Regional) in the 68th minute.
The Red Devils added an insurance goal with 18:07 remaining when Ashley Kunkle (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) found the back of the net off an assist from Olivia Licata (Upper Saddle River, N.J./Northern Highlands). Friday had a great chance just minutes later but Barry made a pair of outstanding saves.
The Red Devils held the advantage in shots (15-7) and corners (8-1) on the night. They return home to host Haverford College at 3:30 pm on Saturday.
