WATERVILLE, Maine --- Su-Lin Del Guercio (Peddie School/Parsippany, N.J.), a three-time All-New England selection during her playing career with the Colby College women's soccer team, was named by head coach Jennifer Holsten as the team's new assistant coach on Wednesday.

Del Guercio, who graduated from Colby in May with a bachelor's degree in government, also made the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Team for a third straight year in 2010. She was a team captain, the squad's most valuable player, and made the NESCAC All-Sportsmanship Team this past season. At the Colby senior awards presentation, Del Guercio was honored with the Pamela Hoyt-Sanborn Award for inspirational leadership and sportsmanship.

Del Guercio attended the NESCAC Coaching Symposium, a conference for female student-athletes interested in coaching as a profession, in January 2010. She was on Colby's Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC) since 2008.

Starting her Colby career as a midfielder, Del Guercio sacrificed for the team and switched back to defense at the start of her sophomore season because of a lack of defenders on the squad. Her skill allowed her to make the transition and become one of the top defenders in New England Division III soccer.

Del Guercio, a member of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) since June 2010, was the head coach of the Seacoast United, a Maine Premier Under-16 Soccer Club. The squad won the Maine State Cup title under her leadership this past spring. She also has been a head coach for the under-12 team, a co-head coach for a Maine champion under-18 squad, and an assistant coach for three other teams. Two of the three teams she coached as an assistant also won Maine State Cup titles in their age groups.

Del Guercio has been a camp counselor all four of her collegiate years at the The Soccer Camp at Colby College. She just coached at the Olympic Development Region I Camp at the University of Rhode Island and is expected to be at the Dartmouth Soccer Camp in August.
