Dominant Gators Stunned in Overtime

More news about: Allegheny women's team

The College at Brockport's Kaila Maguire stunned the Gators with an unassisted strike in the 103rd minute, as the Golden Eagles clawed to a 1-0 victory over Allegheny on the second day of the Red Devil Women's Soccer Classic at Dickinson Park.

Like Friday's opener, the Gators (1-1-0) once again controlled the play and dominated the statistics, but this time, Allegheny was unable to orchestrate a go-ahead goal and a late and rare chance for Brockport (1-1-0) 13 minutes into the extra session provided the difference.

Allegheny outshot its opponent, 16-4, and boasted a 7-0 edge in corner opportunities. The Gators had four corners in the first 20 minutes of action, but were unable to capitalize on the strong attack. The Brockport defenders blocked several opportunities in the second frame, and although Katie Gildemeyer hit the post with four minutes left in regulation, the Golden Eagles produced few chances in the match.

Allegheny outshot Brockport, 3-0, in the first overtime period, including a shot by Katrina Gazsi that was saved by Erin Asquith. Maguire made the most of the first chance for either team in the second half, and buried her first goal of the season to key the win.
