Johns Hopkins-Messiah Showdown Moved to JHU's Homewood Field

More news about: Johns Hopkins women's team

BALTIMORE, MD - The Johns Hopkins-Messiah women's soccer game, one of the biggest early-season games on the NCAA Division III schedule, will now be played at JHU's Homewood Field instead of Messiah's Shoemaker Field as heavy rains have left Messiah's grass field unplayable. The game is scheduled for a 7 pm start at Homewood on Wednesday, September 7.

The Johns Hopkins-Messiah rivalry has developed into one of the best in the Mid-Atlantic Region in recent years. The Blue Jays and Falcons played a pair of games last season that Messiah won by identical 2-1 scores. Included was an epic match in the NCAA Quarterfinals that, despite the loss, ranks among the top games in Johns Hopkins women's soccer history. Messiah and Johns Hopkins have met in the NCAA Quarterfinals in each of the last two years with the Falcons prevailing both times.

The current national rankings bear out how big the game is as Messiah is ranked number one in the NSCAA Coaches Poll, while the Blue Jays check in at number eight. In the d3sccoer.com poll, Messiah is ranked first with JHU just behind at number three.

Johns Hopkins will provide live stats for the game via the official web site of Hopkins Athletics.
