Bridgewater Edges Hood College, 1-0
BRIDGEWATER, Va. - Bridgewater College improved to 3-0 on the season with a 1-0 victory over Hood College (1-1) in women's soccer action Wednesday afternoon.
The Eagles scored the game's only goal early in the second half to overcome a solid defensive effort by the visitors.
Bridgewater controlled play throughout the contest holding an 8-2 edge in shots in the opening half and a 13-0 margin in the final 45 minutes.
For most of the game, Hood's defense, led by goalkeeper Kirsten Cacciola, was up to the task. The Eagles put nine shots on goal and Cacciola responded with eight saves.
The Eagles scored their only goal in the 58th minute when freshman Anna Theisen controlled a pass from Melanie Waters and beat Cacciola for a 1-0 Bridgewater lead.
The Eagles defense kept pressure off of its keeper as Mackenzie Gates faced just two shots.
