Blue Jay Women Fifth In SLIAC Women's Soccer Poll
The Westminster College women's soccer squad is picked fifth in the 2011 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) Pre-Season Women's Soccer Poll, as voted on by the conference coaches. The Blue Jays went 7-9 overall and finished fifth in the conference standings last season at 4-4.
All-conference second team sophomore Megan Gunnels (Ozark, Mo./Ozark) returns to lead the offense. Gunnels tied for the team lead in goals (7) and game-winning goals (2) last year. Sophomore Sarah Ogar (Mexico, Mo./Mexico) is also back after scoring five goals with two game-winning goals as a freshman. And junior goalie Courtney Howe (Ladue, Mo./Ladue), who was named conference defensive player of the week for September 1-5 last year, returns after being slowed by injury late in the season.
