Eureka Falls at Rockford, 6-2
ROCKFORD, Ill. -- Eureka College juniors Lindsay Coffey (Pekin, Ill./Pekin H.S.) and Maddie Zois (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central H.S.) each scored their first career goals Saturday at Rockford, but the host Regents scored the first six goals of the match and eventually held on for a 6-2 win over the Red Devils, Saturday afternoon in Rockford, Ill.
Zois and Coffey scored consecutive goals in a stretch of less than three minutes late in the match. Zois hit the back of the net at the 84:31 mark, followed by Coffey's strike at 87:00. Both goals were unassisted.
Rockford broke a scoreless tie in the 32nd minute on Jordan Barker's unassisted goal. The tally opened the floodgates for the hosts, who scored two more times in the final five minutes of the first half for a 3-0 lead at intermission. The lead swelled to 6-0 at 76:07 on a goal from Sarah Harkness.
The Red Devils will have less than 24 hours to prepare for their next opponent, as Iowa Intercollegiate Athletics Conference member Central visits Traister Field Sunday for a 1 p.m. kickoff.
