Baldwin-Wallace College Women's Soccer Team Defeats Hiram, 1-0, In Home Opener
BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College women's soccer team defeated Hiram College, 1-0, tonight (Tuesday, September 13) in a non-conference match on the Tressel Field at the George Finnie Stadium. The contest was the home opener for the Yellow Jackets.
With the victory, B-W snapped a two-game losing skid and improved to 3-2 on the season. The loss drops the Terriers to 2-2 overall.
The Yellow Jackets got the lone goal of the game when sophomore forward Heather Keller (Parma) found the back of the net off the cross from junior midfielder Lindsey Mikula (Rocky River) at 14:18 in the first half.
In net for B-W, sophomore Kristina Mathur (Mason) recorded her first win of the season and her third in her career without facing a shot on goal.
B-W outshot the Terriers 14-3 but lost the corner kick battle 2-1.
The Yellow Jackets will travel to Grove City, Pennsylvania to take on the Wolverines of Grove City College in the second game of a men's and women's soccer doubleheader at 3:30 p.m. B-W will return to the friendly confines of the Tressel Field pitch at the George Finnie Stadium on Tuesday, September 20 when it plays host to Cleveland cross-town rival Case Western Reserve University at 7:00 p.m.
