Allegheny and Wooster Finish Level in Scoreless Battle
WOOSTER, Ohio – Allegheny extended its unbeaten streak to three games in the North Coast Athletic Conference after settling for a scoreless tie at Wooster on Wednesday. Senior goalkeeper Emily Karr was credited with her fourth consecutive shutout, while the Gators were denied the road win despite generating several chances during the overtime periods.
Allegheny (7-3-2, 2-0-1 NCAC) manufactured the best chance for either team in the extra session, although Wooster (5-5-1, 0-1-1) keeper Michele Ring made a nice save on an attempt by Dayna Rowe in the 106th minute. Ring made six saves en route to the shared shutout, while Karr was tasked with one stop.
The shot totals were even at four after the first half, although the Gators outshot the Fighting Scots 7-3 the rest of the way. The Blue and Gold pieced together many of its opportunities through the middle where rookie Jaymee Wallace led all players with four attempts.
Allegheny has played in five overtime games this season, equaling the mark from all of last season. The single-season record for most overtime games is seven set in 1994.
