NEW LONDON, Conn. (Oct. 11, 2011) – The Mount Holyoke College soccer team sustained a tough 1-0 setback at Connecticut College this afternoon. Both sides went scoreless until the 78:14 mark, when senior forward Brigi Palatino found the back of the net for what proved to be the lone goal.

After gaining possession of the ball on the right side, Palatino dribbled in and chipped a shot over the outstretched arms of junior goalkeeper Emily Shank from point blank range.

Mount Holyoke's best chances came from first year Amber Legare and junior Kiana Lussier. Legare recorded five shots, while Lussier had two.

Connecticut (4-5-1, 1-4-1 NESCAC) finished with advantages in both shots (22-8) and corners. Junior Amy Lowitt got the start between the pipes for the Camels. She made three saves before giving way to first year Natalie Signor, who preserved the shutout with two stops over the final 63 minutes.

Mount Holyoke's goalkeeping duties were shared by first year Mackenzie Randall and Shank. Randall made two saves in the first half, and Shank added five more in the second.

The Lyons (3-7-0, 2-4-0 NEWMAC) will resume their NEWMAC slate at home against MIT on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
