UW-Oshkosh defeats UW-Stevens Point 1-0
STEVENS POINT – UW-Oshkosh's Jennifer Nesbitt tallied the game's lone goal on Wednesday afternoon as the UW-Stevens Point women's soccer team fell to the Titans 1-0 at the Point Soccer Bowl.
After a scoreless opening half, Nesbitt found the back of the goal in the 56th minute, scoring off a pass from Chelsea Kierszh, to put the visiting Titans in front 1-0.
The Pointers picked up the intensity following the goal and had several solid scoring opportunities including a Kim Gietman shot that hit the post in the 75th minute, but it was not enough as the Pointers suffered their third conference loss of the year.
Brittany Marx recorded one save on the afternoon while UWO's Brittany Walder recorded seven in the shutout.
The victory for the Titans is the team's first over UW-Stevens Point since November of 2006 and just the third ever in the all-time series.
UW-Stevens Point (8-5, 3-3 WIAC) will look to bounce back from the loss on Saturday when they play host to the Warhawks of UW-Whitewater in action beginning at 1 p.m.
