Kristina Klusek registers a hat trick in the second half as No. 18 Ohio Northern wins at Otterbein 3-0

WESTERVILLE — Freshman Kristina Klusek scored three second half goals to lead the No. 18 Ohio Northern women's soccer team to a 3-0 victory over Otterbein Wednesday afternoon.

With the win, the Polar Bears are now 10-1-2 overall and 4-0-0 in the OAC, which is good for sole possession of first place, while the Cardinals fall to 6-5-1 overall and 3-1-0 in the OAC.

Northern is now unbeaten in their last 10 contests which ties a school record.

Klusek, whose hat trick is the first of her career, got the Polar Bears on the board in the 46th minute on an unassisted goal.

She would then score two more goals in a three minute span.

In the 73rd minute, senior Alyssa Merrick passed to Klusek who rocketed a shot from 20 yards out past the goalie.

Klusek score again in the 76th minute when she shot the ball into the upper right corner. Merrick picked up the assist again.

Merrick now leads the OAC with nine assists on the year.

Junior goalie Erin Waehner recorded her third straight shutout and fifth on the season by making one save.

Northern outshot Otterbein by an 8-7 margin.

Ohio Northern will be in action again on Saturday when they host Baldwin Wallace at 3:30 p.m.
