Westfield State Defeats RIC, 7-0

Westfield, Mass.-Junior forward Brittanie McGregor (Ludlow, MA) registered a hat trick with three goals and junior forward Kayley Miller (Ludlow, MA) had a goal and three assists as Westfield State University defeated Rhode Island College, 7-0, in a non-conference women's soccer game on Tuesday evening.

 

It was Senior Night for the Owls, who boosted their overall record to 11-3-1 heading into Saturday's key conference game vs. MCLA in North Adams. RIC dropped to 2-13.

 

The Owls jumped out to a 3-0 halftime lead. McGregor scored the first two goals with assists from Miller. Miller then scored in the 44th minute with freshman Ashleigh Chretien (North Attleboro, MA) registering her first of two assists.

 

The Ludlow Connection of McGregor and Miller teamed up for another goal in the 51st minute. McGregor has a team-high nine goals this season followed by Miller with eight.

 

Junior forward Leann Rivard (Chicopee, MA) tallied her seventh goal of the season in the 55th minute as the Owls took an insurmountable 5-0 lead. Scoring Westfield's final two goals were scored by freshmen reserves Megan Lussier (Dalton, MA) and Rachel Boulette (Enfield, CT).

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will resume Little East Conference action at home against Plymouth State on Saturday, Oct. 22 (1 p.m.).
