MADISON, Wis. – Tim Alexander is used to travelling in small circles. He's the only person to ever be the head men's and women's soccer coach at Edgewood College, he keeps a small, loyal group of assistant coaches and he doesn't worry much about who notices the phenomenal success his teams have had for the last two decades. Now Alexander will join another select group of individuals, upon being named to this year's class to be inducted into the Wisconsin Soccer Coaches Association Hall of Fame.

Alexander's list of accomplishments would be the envy of most any coach. Since being hired from Green Bay Premontre High School to start the Edgewood College soccer program from scratch, Alexander has built conference champion and NCAA Tournament contending programs on both the men's and women's side of the ball. Most notably, Alexander is one of only five coaches in the history of the NCAA to win both 200 men's soccer games and 200 women's soccer games. His combined record of 465-285-53 represents a winning percentage of .612.

The women's team has won nine conference titles, including an unprecedented eight consecutive Lake Michigan Conference titles from 1994 to 2001. The Eagle women's team has reached the NCAA Tournament four times, most recently in 2008. The Eagle men own two conference championships and have played in three NCAA Tournaments. Alexander has been named conference coach of the year 11 times in his career including 1994, 1996 and 1999 when he won for both men's and women's soccer in the same season.

While Alexander will tell you that records and milestones are a matter of longevity, his players tell a different story. Alexander insists all of his players call him by his first name and those players consider Tim their friend and mentor long after their Edgewood College playing days are over. Many credit Alexander's familiar style to his long term success.

The Wisconsin Soccer Coaches Association Hall of Fame Banquet will have a decidedly NCAA Division III feel this year as three of the four inductees are current Division III coaches. Sheila Miech of UW-Stevens Point, Craig Peltonen of Marian University and Aleks Nikolic, one of the founders of the U.S. Youth Soccer Association. The WSCA Hall of Fame currently has 13 members including Aldo Santaga, former head coach at UW-Green Bay and the grandfather of current Edgewood College women's soccer player Kristina Santaga.

The banquet will take place on Saturday, March 24th at the Monona Terrace Convention Center in Madison. Tickets are $40 for WSCA members and $45 for non-WSCA members.
