Transy women top MSJ, 1-0
CINCINNATI, Ohio - Senior forward Sammi Migliozzi scored her first goal of the season Thursday and Transylvania made it stand up for a 1-0 win over Mt. St. Joseph in Heartland Conference women's soccer action.
Transy is 13-3 overall, 6-2 in HCAC play, while the Lions are 4-12-1, 3-6 HCAC.
Migliozzi scored in the 38th minute for Transy's lone score of the contest. The Pioneers outshot the Lions, 19-12, including 9-5 in shots on goal.
The teams were even in corner attempts at 2-2. Transy keeper Kara Hansel had five saves.
The Pioneers complete regular season play on Saturday when they travel to Anderson for a 1 p.m. matchup.
The HCAC tournament, which includes the top four teams, begin Wednesday at the site of the highest seed. The Pioneers currently trail Earlham and Hanover by one game.
The HCAC Tournament Championship game will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the site of the highest seed.
