Roanoke Advances in ODAC Tournament With 2-0 Win Over Guilford
SALEM, Va. - Cindy Suttora and Carmen Graves scored in third-seeded Roanoke College's 2-0 win over number-six Guilford College in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Tournament quarterfinal Saturday at Kerr Stadium.
The Maroons (14-4-1) scored once in each half to advance to a semifinal match Wednesday (11/2) at Virginia Wesleyan College, a 3-1 winner over Randolph-Macon College Saturday. Suttora opened the scoring in the 29th minute off a Stephanie Parentau assist. Graves added an insurance tally in the 84th minute off a Rebekah Adams assist.
Roanoke held a 9-1 edge in shots. Carolyn Sarabacher stopped the Quakers' (10-8-1) lone shot in the first half to earn the shutout. Amy Baker made three saves for Guilford.
Guilford ends its season with its most wins since 2006.
