Cal Lutheran completed the SCIAC gauntlet unscathed posting a perfect 12-0-0 mark. Down the stretch the Regals won three of its final four contests by one goal margins including back-to-back overtime victories to finish the regular season.
CLU has not faced the Bulldogs at William Rolland Stadium this season. The Regals outlasted Redlands in overtime back on Sept. 17, at Mt. Clef Stadium. Cal Lutheran later defeated the Bulldogs on the road by a 3-0 margin on Oct. 12.
In 2010 Cal Lutheran defeated Redlands by 1-0 and 3-0 scores during the regular season. The Regals are hoping that is where the similarities end.
CLU looks to avenge a pair of post-season exits courtesy of last year's Bulldogs squad. Redlands defeated Cal Lutheran 2-0 in Thousand Oaks en route to the SCIAC Tournament title and automatic qualifying berth into the NCAA playoffs. The Bulldogs again defeated the Regals in the second round of the NCAA Tournament ending their season. No. 2 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps will host No. 3 Pomona-Pitzer in the other semifinal taking place simultaneously at 7 p.m. Both teams finished with identical 7-4-1 conference records but CMS took the head-to-head season series 1-0-1 to earn the higher seed and hosting privileges.
The highest remaining seed following Thursday's results will host Saturday's final. A Cal Lutheran victory over Redlands would make William Rolland Stadium the site for Saturday night's final at 7 p.m.
