Eight Lady Lions Named to AMCC All-Conference Team

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Eight Penn State Altoona women's soccer players were named to the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference 2011 All-Conference Team, which was released on Tuesday.

Picked to the first team were junior forward Allysia Ketchem (Lewisburg, PA/Lewisburg), senior midfielder Elizabeth Watt (Harleysville, PA/Souderton), and senior defender Meredith Barcia (New Canaan, CT/New Canaan).

Ketchem tied for second in points in the AMCC with 31, scoring 12 goals and tallying seven assists -- both team-high statistics.

Watt was tied for third on the team in goals scored with four, and she added four assists. This is the third time Watt's four-year career that she has earned AMCC first team All-Conference status.

Barcia anchored the Lady Lions' back line and also contributed offensive numbers to the team, scoring three goals and notching four assists.

Taking second team honors were sophomore forward Meredith Waters (Williamsport, PA/Loyalsock Township), senior midfielder Erin Chafardon (McConnellsburg, PA/McConnellsburg), sophomore defender Erin Weidl (Pittsburgh, PA/Chartiers Valley), and senior goalkeeper Lindsay Raspanti (Fairless Hills, PA/Pennsbury).

Waters, last season's AMCC Newcomer of the Year, continued to have offensive success in her second season. She tied for fourth in the conference in points with 11 goals and five assists.

A solid two-way player for Penn State Altoona, Chafardon scored four goals to go along with three assists.

Weidl, in her second year, proved to be a tough defender for the Lady Lions. She also scored one goal and had one assist.

Raspanti, last year's conference Co-Player of the Year, posted another solid season between the pipes for her team. She ranked second in the AMCC in shutouts with nine, and her save percentage of .810 was third-best in the conference. She finished with a 10-3-3 overall record.

Earning a third team nod was freshman midfielder Nicole Zambelli (Kings Park, NY/Kings Park). Despite not being one of the team's regular starters, Zambelli tied for first on the squad in assists with seven. She also contributed three goals.
