WAVERLY, Iowa—The 14th-ranked Wartburg women's soccer team drew a 1-1 doubleovertime tie in the NCAA Second-round game Saturday night against UW-Whitewater. The Warhawks advanced 6-5 in the shootout.

The game was scoreless through the first half.

Sophomore Anna Aquino (Bettendorf) connected on a pass from senior Katy Wendt (Bettendorf) to put the Knights on the scoreboard at 51:03.

With her assist, Wendt tied the single-season school record in that category as Katie Rapp originally set the mark in 2001.

"Katy has worked hard this season and deserves all the awards she has received," said head coach Tiffany Pins on Wendt's record. "She will be greatly missed."

UW-Whitewater's Pamela Lisowe evened the score at 73:41. Alyssa Chamberlain was credited with the assist.

The game was sent into overtime as neither team scored in the rest of regulation.

The Knights outshot the Warhawks 6-1 in the extra sessions but were unfortunately, unable to capitalize.

To decide the advancing team, the game went into a shootout. After each team sent its five players to the box, it was tied 4-4.

Each team had to send two extra players to try to propel their teams into the Sweet Sixteen. The first players from each squad made it and after the Warhawks made their seventh attempt, the Orange and Black were unable to push the
shootout further.

Wartburg ends the season 17-2-3 overall and set the single-season school record for shutout wins at 12.

"We had a great season and I feel very fortunate to have this great group of players for my first-year as a head coach," said Coach Pins.
