Devils Tie Altoona 0-0, Record Third Straight Shutout
(Altoona, Pa.) - The Dickinson College women's soccer team posted its third straight shutout to start the season, but could only manage a 0-0 tie at Penn State Altoona. The teams played through a heavy rain, going an entire 110 minutes with no goals on the board.
The teams combined for a mere 18 shots in the double-overtime marathon. The Devils held a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks and there were just five fouls called in the contest.
Junior Annie Weichert (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) made five saves to earn her second solo shutout of the season. She came up with back to back saves in the 95th minute to keep the Lions off the scoreboard.
Penn State Altoona stands at 1-1-1 on the season. The Red Devils are 2-0-1 overall. They travel to Albright College on Saturday to face more Lions at 11:00 am.
