19th-Ranked Devils Remain Unbeaten, Top Albright 3-0

(Reading, Pa.) - The 19th-ranked Dickinson College women's soccer team remained unbeaten with a 3-0 win over Albright College on Saturday.

 

First-year Julia Thayer (Washington, D.C./Maret School) struck twice for the Red Devils, netting the game-winner in the 20th minute as she broke through the defense and placed a shot in the bottom of the net.

 

Junior Marissa Kunkle (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) finished on an assist from classmate Ashley Fields (Far Hills, N.J./Ridge) with just 1:35 remaining in the first half.

 

Thayer ripped a shot of the inside of the left post for her second tally, scoring off a nice pass from classmate Cate Maugle (Glenmoore, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) in the 54th minute to round out the scoring.

 

Junior Annie Weichert (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) made four saves in 81 minutes of work before first-year Liz Cassin (Summit, N.J./Summit) came on stop one shot in nine minutes to preserve the shutout.

 

The Red Devils improve to 3-0-1 on the season. They return home to face St. Mary's College (Md) on Wednesday at 5:00 pm.
