Two Regals Named to Capital One Academic All-District Team
THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. - Senior Rebekah Casas and sophomore Anna Medler have been named to the Capital One Academic All-District VIII Team as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Casas earned her second straight academic all-district honor following a third team selection in 2010. The senior has maintained a 3.85 grade point average while pursuing her degree in psychology.
This season Casas has appeared in all but one game while making 11 starts as part of the Regals defensive unit. She has scored a career-high three goals this season and is part of a defensive unit that has allowed just 10 scores in 22 games on the year.
Medler earned the CoSIDA All-Academic honor in her first year of eligibility for the award. The sophomore has held a 3.86 grade point average in her year-plus of academic studies while attending Cal Lutheran.
The defender has earned a spot in the starting lineup in all but three of the team's 22 games this season. Medler is coming off a freshman season in which she was named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-West Region and SCIAC Second Teams.
To be eligible for CoSIDA Academic All-District honors a student-athlete must carry at least a 3.30 GPA while contributing as either a starter or top reserve.
On Monday, Cal Lutheran received word it will be one of 16 institutions to host the first two rounds of the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Tournament. The Regals will begin their quest for the title on Saturday, Nov. 12, against UC Santa Cruz at William Rolland Stadium.
