Regals Soccer Nets Third Straight Team Academic Award

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. - Cal Lutheran is one of 572 collegiate women's soccer programs to earn 2011 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Team Academic Award honors.

Teams that maintained a team grade point average of 3.00 or higher this past year received the honor. Cal Lutheran's team GPA of 3.24 this past season marked the third straight year the program has earned this distinction.

Seven members on this year's team were also recognized as part of the Cal Lutheran Scholar-Athlete Society. Student-athletes who compete at the intercollegiate or junior varsity level and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.40 or higher earn this status.

Highlighting this group of players are senior defense Rebekah Casas and sophomore defender Anna Medler. Both were named to the Capital One Academic All-District Team this past fall. Casas earned her second straight honor and will graduate this year with a degree in Psychology.
