Medaille Women Upended by Nazareth
BUFFALO, NY - The Medaille College women's soccer team hosted a strong Nazareth team this evening at All High Stadium and fell to the Golden Flyers (5-1) in non-conference action. The Lady Mavs lone goal came off the foot of Joey Ruderman. However, Nazareth midfielder Sarah Eichelberger stole the show with a four goal and one assist performance.
The Golden Flyers jumped out quickly, netting three goals in the first fifteen minutes to grab a strong (3-0) edge. The Lady Mavs settled down defensively after that and were able to head into halftime with the score the same.
In the early stages of the second half Medaille finally broke through when Ruderman surged past a defender and deposited the ball in the back of the net off a nice pass from Kristen Bachman to trim the Nazareth lead to (3-1). The score would remain that way for most of the second half until Eichelberger netted another pair of goals less than two minutes apart to secure the victory.
The loss drops Medaille to (1-2-0) on the season as they will head to the Cortland State Tournament this weekend where they will face Bard College on Saturday (9/8) at 3:30pm in Central New York.
