Buena Vista Women Remain Unbeated with 2-2 Tie against Nebraska Wesleyan

More news about: Buena Vista women's team

The Buena Vista women's soccer team made history yet again as it started a season unbeaten through the first three games for the first time in school history, as it finished in a 2-2 (2OT) tie against Nebraska Wesleyan, on Wednesday night.

Playing under the lights for the first time this season, the Beavers fell behind 1-0 nearly seven minutes into the contest before junior Shelby Ripperger evened things up midway through the period.

The Prairie Wolves (0-1-1) regained the lead at 2-1 at nearly the 40-minute mark before freshman Tori Carson kicked through what proved to be the game's final goal just one minute later.

Both teams threatened throughout the second half and both overtime periods, but each goalie chalked up their share of nice saves.

Each team finished with 15 shots with senior Kellyn Arnold recording five of those, including four on-goal, for the Beavers.  Ripperger was next with three.

Defensively, freshman Nicole Smith made her collegiate debut and went the distance, while tallying six saves.

Buena Vista (2-0-1) is back in action on Saturday afternoon when it travels to Illinois College for a 12:00pm road contest.  The team will then return home on Sunday afternoon for a 3:00pm non-conference meeting with Grinnell College.
