Arnold Becomes Buena Vista's All-Time Goals Leader in Win over Northland
Senior Kellyn Arnold became Buena Vista's all-time career goals leader on Sunday afternoon by posting her second straight hat trick, as the Beavers cruised to a 9-0 victory over Northland College.
Arnold wasted no time matching the mark set by Kelsey Reitmeier (2008-11) when she picked up her fourth goal of the season less than two minutes into the contest. The record then became hers nearly 10 minutes later when she put the Beavers in front 4-0. Five minutes into the second half she added to the mark with her third goal of the contest.
Shelby Ripperger posted the team's second hat trick of the contest, as she scored the team's second fifth and sixth goals.
Freshman Tori Carson dished out assists on the game's first two goals before scoring her third goal of the year to make it 9-0.
Sarah Kensinger chimed in with her first goal of the year, while senior Casey Tims added her third assist.
Jaclyn Pfeifer got the start in-goal for BVU and went the games first 69 minutes, tallying three saves. Turissa Moreland wrapped up the combined shutout without facing a single shot.
The Beavers have now outscored their first two opponents of the year 16-0, marking the first time in program history it has picked up back-to-back shutouts to start a year.
Buena Vista (2-0) will look to move to 3-0 for the first time in school history when it plays host to Nebraska Wesleyan University (0-1) on Wednesday, September 5 beginning at 6:00pm.
