Greensboro College Women's Soccer Drops Home Opener to Bridgewater

The Pride women's soccer team fell to Bridgewater in its home opener on Friday by a final count of 5-1.  The match-up was game one of the Greensboro College Tournament.

The Eagles used two first half goals by Abby Dehoff to head into the break with a 2-0 lead.

Greensboro narrowed the gap at the 53:25 point in the second half, as Tiffany Walters blasted a goal home from 25-yards out.  The score was set-up by a cross from Mary Randolph that passed through the box.

Bridgewater responded in a fury, netting three quick goals to put the game out of reach.  Nikole Blackwell kicked off the run in the 65th minute on a long distance free kick.  Krissy Snyder provided the final two goals in the 66th and 68th minutes.

The Eagles held a commanding 25-6 advantage in total shots and attempted 13 shots on goal compared to five for The Pride - with a single shot recorded by five different players.

Shireen Unvala made five saves for the day but took the loss in goal.

With the defeat, Greensboro drops to 1-2-0 on the season.  The tournament will resume on Saturday with Bridgewater squaring off with Stevenson at 3:30 p.m. on Pride Field.  The Pride will wrap-up the tournament at home on Sunday against Stevenson at 1:30 p.m.
