FREDONIA, N.Y. – Allegheny women's soccer buried a goal in each half en route to a 2-0 victory over SUNY Geneseo on the first day of the Blue Devil Classic hosted by SUNY Fredonia.

Rookie Hannah Zangara converted a pass from senior captain Ashley Lehr in the seventh minute to quickly move the Gators (3-1-0) in front. The goal marked the first collegiate finish for Zangara, while Lehr was credited with an assist in the second consecutive game.

Although the contest was statistically even, Allegheny doubled its advantage midway through the second half. On the receiving end of a great pass by Michelle Holcomb, Lehr drilled her first goal of the campaign, and fifth of her career, in the 72nd minute. The Gators orchestrated a nice build up through the middle prior to the attack, while Holcomb made a nice move against a Geneseo defender in clearing space for the cross.

Kylie Mason, who is the reigning Allegheny College Athlete of the Week, stopped four shots en route to her third consecutive shutout. The victory was also the third in a row for Allegheny, which dropped Geneseo to 0-3 on the season while keeping the Blue Knights off the board for the third straight game.
