Albion Falls In Final Tune-Up Prior to Start of League Play
JOLIET, Ill. - Albion's final test prior to jumping into the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association portion of the schedule was a 6-0 setback to the University of Saint Francis.
St. Francis' first two shots went high and wide of the goal, but the Fighting Saints found the mark after that as Kaley Marcinak and Liceth Robles buried their scoring chances. Robles added another tally in the 26th minute as the Fighting Saints held a 3-0 lead after 45 minutes.
Brianna Ferrias scored and dished out an assist as Saint Francis added three goals in the second half.
Albion goalkeepers Victoria Della Pia and Emily Wingard combined to make nine saves.
Victoria Montgomery was credited with Albion's only shot on goal.
Albion will make its home debut Sept. 15 when it squares off against league rival Kalamazoo College. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m.
