NJCU, WIDENER PLAY TO SCORELESS TIE AT SCARLET RAIDER CLASSIC
NEWARK, NJ (NJCUGothicKnights.com) | New Jersey City University sophomore goalkeeper BRITTANY HOFFMAN (McMurray, PA/Peters Township) made 11 saves, including four in the second overtime period to keep the game scoreless as the Gothic Knights and Widener University played to a 0-0 tie in double overtime on day two of the Scarlet Raiders Soccer Classic at Rutgers-Newark's Alumni Field.
Hoffman, who made double digits in saves for the third time this season and eighth time in her career, earned selection to the All-Tournament Team along with senior center midfielder BRIANNA TAYLOR (Linden, NJ/Linden).
NJCU is now 1-2-2 overall and played only the second scoreless tie in program history—and the first since 1997. The second tie this season marks the first time since 1995 that the Knights have had multiple ties in the same campaign.
