IMMACULATA, Pa. — Six different players scored goals as Elizabethtown women's soccer routed Immaculata 9-0 Saturday afternoon. Freshman Deanna Slater provided three goals and the Blue Jays did not allow a shot in the non-conference tilt.
Coming off a scoreless tie with York Wednesday night, the Blue Jays had no such problems finding the net in this one. They wore down the Mighty Macs defense with 10 shots in the first 20:30 and then scored on their 11th shot, with freshman Eryn Henderson picking up her first career goal.
The flood gates opened from there, as fellow freshmen Lauren Fredericks and Trisha Clark beat Immaculata keeper Meghan McCurnin in the 30th and 33rd minutes.
Junior Alex Topa scored her first goal of the year a few minutes shy of halftime to give E-town (3-0-1) a 4-0 lead at the break.
Laura Wingert provided a goal in the 52nd minute to make it 5-0.
Slater, a freshman, converted on back-to-back chances four minutes apart, scoring her first in the 60th minute and second in the 64th. She would later finish off the hat trick with a third goal in the 87th minute.
The only thing keeping Slater from a natural hat trick (three goals in a row), was an Ashley Landis marker at 75:05 off a pass from Kara Weller. Weller had two assists in the game. She was the only player to be given assists on any of E-town's nine goals.
Elizabethtown outshot Immaculata 35-0 and held a 25-0 advantage in shots on goal. Though she didn't need to make a save, keeper Jess Manchak picked up her third shutout of the year. It was also the 19th of her career, tying her with Angela Freeland for the program record.
