ROLINE'S THREE GOALS LEAD OXY IN ROUT
ALISO VIEJO — Whitney Roline (Eugene, Ore.) recorded a hat trick, Hannah Kaminsky (Chicago) added a pair of goals, Michaela Tsuha (Honolulu) had two assists and the Occidental College women's soccer team routed Soka University 5-0 on Sunday in its final tune up before beginning SCIAC play this week.
Oxy dominated offensively and defensively.
The Tigers (1-1) rattled off 25 shots, 14 of them on target, compared to Soka's four total shots, none of which were on the frame.
The flurry of offense was a welcome sign for Oxy head coach Colm McFeely after the team was held scoreless in its opening day loss to The Master's.
Roline's three goals were particularly impressive considering she only scored two during the entire 2011 season.
Kaminsky's were her first as a Tiger.
Ashley Okazaki had two shots for Soka and teammates Taylor Hollis and Aubree West each had one.
Rachel Adeleye (Maplewood, N.J.), an All-American goalie for the Oxy women's water polo team, played 15 minutes in goal, her first action since joining the women's soccer team this year.
Oxy played 19 players during the match.
The Tigers host Redlands at 4 p.m. on Wednesday at Lower Field.
