No. 24 Spartans Play to Scoreless Tie with Wittenberg

CLEVELAND, Ohio – At the conclusion of 110 minutes of action and two overtime periods, the No. 24 nationally-ranked Case Western Reserve University women's soccer team played to a 0-0 draw with visiting Wittenberg University on Saturday at Case Field.

The Spartans move to 3-1-2 for the season and return to action on Wednesday, September 19 versus cross-town rival Baldwin Wallace University. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Case Field.

With the tie, Wittenberg sits at 1-2-2.

Case sophomore forwards Christine Straka (Prospect Heights, Ill./Saint Viator) and Jessie Sabers (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Jerome) tied for game-high in attempts with six shots apiece.

Between the pipes, Case sophomore Cameron Casson (Allen, Texas/Allen) faced 15 shots and recorded five saves as she logged the opening 45 minutes as well as the two overtime sessions. Freshman keeper Megan Romelfanger (Fort Wayne, Ind./Homestead) played the second half and posted four saves.

Wittenberg's Cassie Lythjohan faced 21 Spartan shots and recorded six saves.

For the game, Case Western Reserve held a 21-15 edge in shots as well as a slight advantage in corner kicks, 5-4.
