Medaille Women Fall in Non-Conference Road Action
HOUGHTON, NY - The Medaille College women's soccer team dropped a non-conference road game this evening (4-0) at the hands of Houghton College. The talented Highlanders outshot Medaille (22-4) in the game.
The Lady Mavs fell down (2-0) early, surrendering goals in the 11th and 14th minutes respectively. They would have a few chances in the opening half but to no avail as Houghton outshot them (11-4) during that span.
The second half would see Houghton score a goal less than twenty seconds into play to grab a commanding (3-0) lead. A goal by the Highlanders in the 56th minute would round out the scoring and give Houghton the four goal victory. Even more impressive would be the fact that they held the Lady Mavs without a shot in the second half of play.
For Medaille senior Joey Ruderman registered a pair of shots on goal while the tandem of Donielle Oldacre (7 saves) and Chelsea Walker (4 saves) shared duties between the posts. Walker came in to relieve Oldacre fifteen minutes into the second half and did not allow a goal the rest of the way.
The Lady Mavs fall to (2-6-0) on the season and they will open up AMCC play on Saturday (9/22) when they host Penn State-Altoona at 5:00pm at All High Stadium as part of a doubleheader with the men's team. That game kicks off at 7:00pm.
