The Centre women's soccer team stayed perfect on the year, improving its record to 7-0 with a 3-0 win at Denison on Saturday in Granville, Ohio.

It was Denison which handed the Colonels their first loss last year after a 6-0 start, but Centre was in control in Saturday's match after a pair of first half goals seven minutes apart. Anne Mitchell (Fayetteville, Ark.) got the scoring started off a cross from Morgan Collins (Utica, Mich.) in the 22nd minute before Rachel Brannen scored an unassisted goal by scoring after picking up a loose ball in the box in the 29th.

After taking a 2-0 lead to halftime, Centre got another goal to provide some breathing room when Katie Stevenson (Flat Rock, N.C.) scored off a cross from Maddie Slattery (Cincinnati, Ohio) early in the second half.

"Today's win was great for this program," said Centre head coach Jay Hoffman. We have been on the road the past three weeks, and to be able to maintain focus and the the results we are getting says a ton about these ladies and their commitment to Centre women's soccer."

Overall, Denison outshot Centre 6-5, though Centre put four of its shots on goal compared with two for Denison. Megan Foley (Louisville, Ky.) and Holly Hilton (New Palestine, Ind.) each had a save in goal for Centre while Andrea Karl made one save for Denison.

The Colonels finish up a stretch of six straight road games with a game at Mount St. Joseph on Sunday.
