Trinity Women's Soccer Blanks Tufts For 2-0 Weekend
Hartford, Conn. – First-year forward Abbey Lake (Westport, Conn.), netted a goal and an assist to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 2-0 victory over the visiting Tufts University Jumbos in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women's soccer action this afternoon. Trinity improves to 3-3 overall and 2-3 in the NESCAC with its second win in as many days, while the Jumbos drop to 1-4-1 overall and 0-4 in the league.
Lake fed sophomore midfielder Elisa Dolan (Bethesda, Md.) in the 31st minute for the game-winning goal, and added an unassisted insurance tally seven minutes into the second half for her third goal of the weekend. Bantam rookie Monica DeFiori (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) was stellar in goal with eight saves, while Tufts junior Kristin Wright (Austin, Texas) totaled five saves.
"The game today was all about effort. We were all tired from our game yesterday 4-1 win against Connecticut College), but we all wanted this win badly so we pulled it together to shut them out," said Trinity sophomore back McKenzie Jones (Wayland, Mass.). "We feel good about the rest of the year as long as can stay organized in the back, keep calm and play composed."
