Weekly Awards Continue as Jordan Muse Earns League Defensive Honors
NORTON, Mass.- Wheaton College women's soccer senior Jordan Muse (Candia, N.H./Central) helped continue her team's string of weekly New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) awards on Monday, as her being named the league's top defensive player marked the fourth consecutive week at least one Lyon was recognized.
Muse was Wheaton's top defender in leading the Lyons to a pair of shutouts against non-conference foe Tufts University and league school Wellesley College. Marking the Jumbos' and Blue's leading scorers, Muse limited those players to one shot apiece.
Wheaton and Tufts played to a 0-0 double-overtime draw on Wednesday in Norton. On Saturday, the Lyons recorded a 3-0 victory at Wellesley.
Wheaton, which is ranked 19th nationally and third in the region by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), extended its season-opening unbeaten streak to eight games in moving to 6-0-2. Beginning a four-game homestand tomorrow, the Lyons welcome 8-0 University of Massachusetts at Boston to Mirrione Stadium for a 4:00 p.m. start.
