TOUGH WEEKEND FOR BOXERS WITH SHUTOUT AND LOSS
On Saturday, the Pacific women's soccer team earned their fourth shutout of the season. The Boxers claimed a 1-0 victory over Whitman when Dani McMurray (Fr., Gresham, Ore.) scored the lone goal for the Boxers. On Sunday, the Boxers couldn't find the back of the net as they fell to an undefeated Whitworth squad 2-0. After the weekend, the Boxers currently sit in fourth place with a 2-2-1 Northwest Conference record. This Saturday, the Boxers take on Lewis & Clark.

Dani McMurray scored the lone goal for the Boxers over the weekend, her second of the season.  

Brittany Hartmann earned her third shutout of the season and also ranks in the top-10 in three different NWC statistical categories.

• After assisting McMurray on Saturday, Kamryn Plechot is ranking in the top-10 for assists in the Northwest Conference.  

• The Boxers recorded their fourth shutout on Saturday against Whitman. In their four wins on the season, three have been shutouts.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
LEWIS & CLARK

Lewis & Clark finished at the bottom of the Northwest Conference in 2011 with a 2-13-1 record, 3-15-2 overall. Jim Tursi returns for his third season as head coach. The Pioneers are currently in sixth place in the NWC with a 1-2-1 record, 1-5-1 overall. On Saturday, the Pioneers played a tough match with Pacific Lutheran ending in a 0-0 draw. Sophomore goalkeeper, Geena Fong, returns for the Pioneers. In 2011, she was selected to the Honorable Mention All-NWC team. So far in the 2012 season, she has started five matches, collecting 35 saves between the pipes. Newcomer Emily Thompson leads the Pioneers with two goals scored.

FRESHMAN SCORES LONE GOAL: The Boxers only scored one goal over the weekend, coming from freshman Dani McMurray (Fr., Gresham, Ore.). On Saturday against Whitman, the Boxers took control after a foul on the Missionaries in the 28th minute when Kamryn Plechot (So., La Palma, Calif.) threw in the ball, which deflected off Whitman goalkeeper Emily Davis back to McMurray who fired between the posts for her second goal of the season, her first game-winning goal. "Dani is proving that she is a difference-maker and stepped up when we needed her to," said Associate Head Coach Dane Joseph. McMurray scored her first goal of the season on Sept. 9 against Oregon Tech. She currently is tied in shots (14) with Kaitlyn Harper (Sr., Oregon City, Ore.).

HARTMANN SAVES TO THIRD SHUTOUT:  Brittany Hartmann (Sr., Portland, Ore.) played tough between the pipes on Saturday, earning her third shutout of the season. She collected five saves to help the Boxers record their fourth shutout. Hartmann ranks in the top-10 in three different Northwest Conference statisical categories. She ranks first in saves (41), sixth in save percentage (.837), and third in goals against average (0.92). On Sunday, Hartmann tallied seven saves as the Boxers fell 2-0 to Whitworth. Hartmann has recorded shutouts on Sept. 8 against Northwest Christian and on Sept. 9 against Oregon Tech.

PLECHOT ASSISTS: On Saturday, Kamryn Plechot recorded her third assist on the season. She found an open McMurray on a throw in. McMurray found the back of the net to lead the Boxers to a 1-0 shutout victory over Whitman. Plechot's three assists ranks her tied for second in the Northwest Conference. Plechot recorded assists on Aug. 31 against Redlands. She assisted Harper to help the Boxers record their first draw of the season. Her second assist came on Sept. 12 in a 3-1 victory over George Fox. She crossed to Chantal Gustine (Fr., Kalispell, Mont.) to open the scoring at 1-0. Plechot also is second on the team with 13 shots and seven shots on goal.

SHUTTING OUT OPPONENTS: On Saturday, the Boxers earned their fourth shutout of the season. The Boxers claimed a 1-0 victory over Whitman, when McMurray scored the lone goal in the 28th minute. The Boxers recorded their first shutout against Whittier on Sept. 2. Their second shutout came in the very next game when the Boxers ended in a 0-0 draw with Northwest Christian. on Sept. 9 the Boxers would earn their third shutout, claiming a 2-0 victory over Oregon Tech. Hartmann and Kayla Davidson (Jr., Kailua Kona, Hawaii) both combine for the four shutouts. Hartmann has collected three, while Davidson collected the first shutout of the season.

PACIFIC PICKED FIFTH IN NWC POLL: Northwest Conference coaches have picked Pacific to place fifth according to the league's preseason poll released in August. The Boxers received 36 of a possible 80 points in the poll, beating out Whitman, Pacific Lutheran, George Fox and Lewis & Clark. Pacific finished fifth in the conference standings in 2011, after a fifth place selection in the preseason poll. Puget Sound was the favorite to win a eleventh straight conference title. The Loggers earned six first place votes and 66 points. Linfield (56 pts. ) came in second place in the poll, scoring three first place votes.
