LIMA CHALKS UP TWO GOALS, TWO ASSISTS AS NJCU SLAMS YORK, 7-0

MASPETH, NY (NJCUGothicKnights.com) | Freshman midfielder KAITLYN LIMA (Kearny, NJ/Kearny) had her foot in four of New Jersey City University's scores, tallying two goals and two assists, and sophomore BRITTANY HOFFMAN (McMurray, PA/Peters Township) notched her ninth career shutout while contributing two assists from her goalkeeper position as NJCU outshot York College (NY), 32-2, and blanked the Cardinals, 7-0, in a non-conference game on September 29 at the Metropolitan Oval.

NJCU improves to 4-6-2 while defeating York (2-6-1) by the same 7-0 score for the second consecutive year. NJCU has won both all-time meetings; it was the first match-up in New York. The Knights outshot York 23-0 in the first half (9-2 in the second period) and had a 7-0 edge in corner kicks.

Hoffman, All-NJAC as a freshman last year, became the first goalkeeper in NJCU history to be credited with multiple assists in a game and her accomplishment could potentially be an NCAA record. Additional research in the next week will determine if another goalie has ever had more than two assists in a game. She made two saves for her second shutout of the season.

Lima, who scored the second and fourth goals and assisted on the final two, now has five goals, five assists and 15 points in her rookie campaign.

Sophomore defenders DEVON WILLIAMS (Neptune City, NJ/Neptune) and OLYMPIA SCIORTINO (Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan) each contributed a goal and an assist.
