Westfield State Defeats Trinity In Women's Soccer
Westfield, Mass. – Senior forward Kayley Miller (Ludlow, Mass.) scored both goals to power the Westfield State University Owl women's soccer team to a 2-0 victory over the visiting Trinity College Bantams in women's soccer action this evening. Trinity falls to 4-5, while the Owls remain unbeaten at 11-0-1 with their seventh win in a row.
Miller scored the game-winning goal in the 30th minute by blasting a shot into the far corner of the net. Sophomore Sarah Sypek (Westhampton, Mass. set up the goal with a pass in traffic in the middle of the field. Miller teamed up with senior Brittanie McGregor (Ludlow) for an insurance goal in the 58th minute on a highlight film play. McGregor lofted a perfect pass to Miller near the top of the box and she blasted a booming shot well under the crossbar. Westfield State outshot Trinity, 18-7. Players from both teams made excellent defensive blocks on shots at the goal. Trinity keeper Monica DiFiori (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) was credited with six saves.
