PACIFIC NEWS & NOTES
FRESHMAN SCORES BIG:
Freshman Mckenna Davidson (Fr., Kailua, Hawaii) scored the game-winning goal on Saturday against Willamette. In the 99th minute of the first overtime period and after a save by Brittany Hartman (Sr., Portland, Ore.), Caitlin Castillo (Fr., Eugene, Ore.) crossed to Davidson inside the six-yard box. Davidson fired past Willamette goalkeeper to claim a 2-1 victory. Davidson's goal on Saturday marks her second goal of the season, her first game-winning goal. Davidson scored her first goal of the season on Sept. 16 against Pacific Lutheran.

CROSSING CASTILLO: After missing out on the first half of the season due to an injury, Castillo was able to play and be a difference maker for the Boxers on Saturday afternoon. Castillo saw a offensive opportunity for the Boxers when she crossed to Davidson, who scored the game-winning goal for the Boxers to claim a 2-1 victory over Willamette. "When we first saw Castillo play four years ago, we immediately knew she would be the difference-maker on the pitch with her technical ability and supreme leadership skills," said Associate Head Coach Dane Joseph.  "When she committed to play here, we thought it was a dream come true. Unfortunately she came in injured, and wasn't able to return until today, through her determination and diligence.  She was 5-stars even for a veteran, much less a freshman. We are so very happy for her and can't wait to watch her blossom into one of the conference's elite players."

SENIOR SCORES: Sarah Tuffey scored her second goal of the season on Saturday afternoon to help the Boxers take a 1-0 lead over Willamette. In the 46th minute Richardson created an opportunity by crossing to Tuffey who was inside the six-yard box. Tuffey fired past the Willamette's goalkeeper to score the first goal of the match. "Sarah and Anna combined to score one of the best goals I have witnessed," said Joseph. "Anna's inch-perfect cross and Sarah's full volley could not have been executed any better than they were. Most importantly, their total ability on the ball is mouth-watering as it always leaves you wondering what's next." Tuffey scored her first goal of the season on Sept. 2 in 2-0 shutout over Whittier. Kaitlyn Harper (Sr., Oregon City, Ore.) crossed to Tuffey, who fired between the posts past Whittier's goalkeeper.

HARTMANN RANKS AGAIN IN NWC: Brittany Hartmann (Sr., Portland, Ore.) once again ranks in the top-five of three different statistical categories in the Northwest Conference. Hartmann ranks third in saves (56), fourth in saving percentage (.836) and fourth in goals against average (1.02). On Saturday, Hartmann collected her fourth victory on the season against Willamette. She collected eight saves in 99 minutes of play. Hartmann currently owns three of the four Boxer shutouts this season and also was nominated as Northwest Conference Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Sept. 3-9.
