Medaille Women Fall at La Roche

More news about: Medaille women's team

PITTSBURGH, PA - The Medaille College women's soccer team was looking to make it three straight wins when they took to the road to face La Roche College this afternoon but the Redhawks had different plans as they upended the Lady Mavs (3-1) in a critical AMCC showdown.

The host team would open the scoring in the 8th minute on a long arcing shot from near midfield that just beat a leaping Denay O'Connor to grab a (1-0) lead.  The score would remain as such as the teams headed into the intermission.

The Lady Mavs would strike quickly in the second half when Joey Ruderman netted the equalizer just (31) seconds into  play from the left side of the box on a ball served up by Katie Botsford which pushed the score to (1-1).  La Roche would take control of the game following the Ruderman tally as they tallied the eventual game winner in the 53rd minute and then registered an insurance marker in the 64th minute as they pushed a ball into the net that was right on the goal line.

La Roche dictated play as they outshot Medaille (32-12) overall and (15-4) in shots on goal.  Between the posts O'Connor stopped (12) shots on the day as the Lady Mavs fall to (7-8-0) overall and (5-2-0) in conference play.  They will head to Penn State-Beaver on Wednesday (10/17) for a non-conference game that kicks off at 2:00pm.
